That’s no less the case when it comes to our constructiontraining courses here at YTA, with just one course potentiallyenabling you to take your career a very long way.
And in the case of our Experienced Worker Practical Assessment (EWPA) routes, these ‘courses’ may notbe courses at all! In fact, this is a fast-track assessment route allowingthose who are already skilled and experienced in a particular trade to quicklyupgrade their qualifications in line with the knowledge they possess.
We give tradespeople the opportunity to undertakethe EWPA at our West Yorkshire training centre, if they already have at leastfive years’ experience in wall and floor tiling, bricklaying, plastering, or sitecarpentry. Whichever of these options you choose, if you satisfy the terms ofthe one-day assessment, you could soon be the proud holder of an NVQ Level 2qualification.
This qualification, in turn, doesn’t onlyallow you to obtain the blue skilled worker CSCS card so that you can workon-site, but can also help boost your all-round employability and careerprospects.
So, what will you experience if you do choosethe carpentry EWPA?
Presuming it’s the carpentry EWPA you’reinterested in taking on due to already being a seasoned carpenter, when youfirst enquire to us, we will explain what’s involved and put you in touch withan NVQ carpentry assessor, so that a ‘skills scan’ can be undertaken.
If, as a consequence of this discussion, you andthe NVQ assessor are confident of your ability to pass the assessment, we cango ahead with booking the EWPA for you.
You can choose to spend just a single dayundergoing the assessment at our training centre if you are prepared to arrivefor 7:30am, finishing at about 4pm. Once you are here, we will be able to geton with the combination of professional discussion, witness testimonies andpractical assessment that makes up the EWPA.
Those undertaking this carpentry route will betested on such aspects of the job as general workplace safety, efficient workpractices, the movement and handling of resources, the installation of firstfixing and second fixing components, and the maintenance of non-structuralcarpentry work. This will be integral to the assessor’s efforts to ensure youare up to NVQ Level 2 standard.
