The Rams declare that they want a quarterback, but pretty everyone agrees that a quarterback isn't the top player in this year's draft, and certainly not in those top three. Even if selecting a quarterback can really stand out from the others. Draft experts are pretty evenly divided on what the top quarterback for this particular year would be Wentz as well as Jared Goff.
There was debate about Griffin and Andrew Luck in 2012. and there was some debate about Jameis Winston, or Marcus Mariota last year, however, this one differs. Those were highly touted prospects that were competing to be the top. There are a lot of good prospects, and there is no way to tell which has the greatest potential to be the best.
In the last week, Bill Barnwell of ESPN detailed how in the lottery-like draft "the best strategy is to purchase greater numbers of tickets." The RG3 deal was possibly the best example of that of all time, yet the losers of that trade appear to be ignorant of that knowledge. Maybe it will work out but the Rams must be aware.
The Chargers buy mut 23 coins might be able to trade Philip Rivers, but they'd probably screw that up too.
