Breast cancer is a major public health issue because it is the most common cancer in women. The goal of early detection of breast cancer is to reduce mortality and morbidity rates. Mammography and ultrasonography are two traditional screening methods; however, both have limitations. Automated breast ultrasound (ABUS) is a recent technological advancement in the field of breast imaging that has the advantage of standardisation of scans and a lack of operator reliance, as opposed to traditional handheld ultrasound scans. The purpose of this study was to report on our preliminary findings regarding the added value of Automated Breast Ultrasound Systems (ABUS) as a breast screening tool. The study included 200 women who had mammograms, ultrasounds, and ABUS.
