Trajenta: What All You Need To Know?
Trajenta effectively manages type 2 diabetes along with a proper and healthy diet and mild exercise.

What Is Trajenta?

Trajenta is an effective pill that contains linagliptin as an active drug component and is used to control high blood sugar levels. It is mostly prescribed by doctors to type 2 diabetes patients. Adult people are more likely to suffer from type 2 diabetes. It is manufactured by Boehringer Ingelheim India Pvt Ltd . Along with a healthy diet and proper exercise, trajenta also helps in reducing the risk of complications of diabetes like kidney damage, vision loss, nerve damage and sexual problems. Though can't be cured completely, type 2 diabetes can be managed with trajenta which in turn also reduces your chances of getting a heart attack or stroke.

How To Use Trajenta?

Before having Trajenta consult your doctor and also read the provided patients leaflet carefully. Do not start the consumption of trajenta or stop its intake or alter its dose without consulting a certified medical professional. Its recommended dose is mostly 5 mg a day. However, its dose basically depends on your medical condition, underlying symptoms and your condition. You can have trajenta orally with or without food but try to take it at the same time daily. Mostly trajenta is prescribed alone but sometimes your doctor may recommend taking it along with other antidiabetic pills like metformin, sulphonylurea or insulin.

How Does Trajenta Work?

Type 2 diabetes is a chronic health condition where either your pancreatic glands doesn't make enough insulin or can't use the insulin effectively which in turn increases the level of sugar in your blood. Linagliptin, which is an active drug substance in trajenta, belongs to the drug class of dipeptidyl-peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitors. This works by restricting the degradation of the incretin hormone in the body. This hormone boosts the production of insulin hormone by the pancreas and is usually released after the meal.

By blocking the breakdown of the incretin hormone in the blood, linagliptin triggers the pancreatic cells to produce more insulin when your blood sugar levels reach a high level. Linagliptin is not found to be effective when your blood sugar levels are low. Linagliptin in trajenta also decreases the amount of sugar produced by your liver. This is achieved by increasing the production of insulin by the pancreas and reducing the production of glycogen hormones.

All these things together help in controlling the blood sugar level to a normal level and thus managing type 2 diabetes.
