It was announced on the 13th of October that Jagex was putting an end in "real-world trade". In a post to its blog "The RuneScape Team" stated that "gold bought through RWT real world trading is a major issue in any online game with the possibility of trading currency OSRS Gold."
Jagex has announced that it will start sending "messages to those whom we've found engaging to engage in the RWT" within "the coming hours". "For anyone who was involved, we'd like to make it clear that this is your sole und only caution," Jagex added.
Additionally, it was announced it was going to be a PvP modes, Duel Arena, would have sweeping changes that would include the more strict enforcement of the game's code for conduct to encourage positive game play. Jagex states that Duel Arena "has been a trigger for this type of behavior".
Prior to that what the publisher calls "short-term measures" will be in place "until our development teams are able bring a major update to fully replaces the Duel Arena in the coming year."
