Acrolein Market
Acrolein is an unsaturated aldehyde with a foul, burnt fat odour. It is also known as 2-propenal and is derived from petrochemical feedstocks such as glycerin and propylene. Acrolein is stable at room temperature, soluble in ethanol, and has a high polymerization tendency. Acrolein Market is primarily used to produce acrylic acid, as well as to control plant and algae growth, paints, hydrocarbon-fuels, and to kill bacteria and microorganisms in oil wells and water treatment ponds. Acrolein is a highly electrophilic and reactive compound that is highly toxic. Its production process consists of two steps: catalytic oxidation of propylene to produce acrolein and recovery of acrolein from reaction products.
