Most people give the invention of the tablet computer to Alan Kay of Xerox, who drew out the concept in 1971. Apple Computer's Newton was the first widely available tablet computer, although it was not a financial success. Since then, tablets have become a practical computer choice thanks to advancements in battery life, display resolution, handwriting recognition software, memory, and wireless internet connection.
