Electronic cigarettes are battery-powered devices that convert liquid into vapour that can be inhaled. E-cigarettes, e-cigs, and vapes are other names for them.
Inhaled vapour may contain nicotine (the addictive drug found in tobacco), flavourings, and toxins, some of which are carcinogenic.
E-cigarettes are regulated by the government as tobacco products. This means that you must be at least 18 years old to purchase them in the United States. Despite this, e-cigarettes are more popular among teenagers in the United States than any other form of tobacco. In 2017, approximately one in every five twelfth graders reported "vaping" nicotine.
