The network-as-a-service (NaaS) cloud service model allows customers to rent networking services from cloud providers. Customers can use NaaS to run their own networks without having to maintain their own networking infrastructure. NaaS vendors, like other cloud services, run networking functions using software, allowing businesses to set up their own networks entirely without hardware. All they require is Internet access.
Network-as-a-service can be used to replace virtual private networks (VPNs), MPLS connections, and other legacy network configurations. It can also be used to replace on-premise networking hardware such as firewalls and load balancers. Network-as-a-service, a newer model for routing traffic and implementing security policies, has had a significant impact on enterprise networking architecture.
